Bio
My name is Adeyemi Koleoso. I am a professionally trained teacher with great passion for teaching. Coming from a rich background
in science, my father, an Associate Professor of Chemistry Education, inspired my love for scientific investigation and exploration hence, my passion for teaching.
Having completed my primary and secondary school education in my country, my journey into professional teacher training began when I enrolled for the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) program at Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo. The NCE program is a 3 -year program and it is the minimum qualification for teaching in Nigeria. I bagged my Nigeria Certificate in Education with a specialization in Biology/Chemistry in the year 1999 During the period of my professional teacher training at the NCE level, I sat and passed modules on special education, which forms part of the Nigeria curriculum for training would-be teachers.
I did not stop at the NCE level as I also proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo University, Adeyemi College of Education where I bagged my Bachelor of Science Education, with a specialization in Chemistry, in the year 2006 and Diploma in computer studies in 2001. With these achievement, I am professionally qualified to teach science both at the primary and high school levels of education. Since I graduated from the university, I have gathered over 12 years of teaching experience both in Nigeria and South Africa hence, I have the knowledge of the National curricula of the two countries. Some of the subjects I have taught over the years include and not limited to Chemistry, Life Science, Natural Science, Mathematics, Technology Education and Life Orientation.
As an educator with a track records of fostering the development of critical thinking, I have been able to guide pupils for better achievement in science. I have successfully taught students with different characteristics and special needs. I have adequate knowledge and skills needed for effecting meaningful teaching, good ability to understand how children learn, how to adapt teaching to meet pupils needs, how to build effective working relationship with the pupils, and how to practice good management strategies. Also, I have good Information Communication Technology skills that can be geared to supporting learners, especially those learners with special needs. With an array of the different teaching skills that I have acquired over my teaching career, I believe that I would be an important addition to the crop of professionals in your school as I have met the requirements.
Based on my professional teacher training and my 12-year teaching experience, I have been able to develop my skills on inclusivity in the classroom thus, assisting pupils and those with special needs with their learning. Some of the modules on Special Education that I passed during my undergraduate study have exposed me to the importance of cooperation between subject teachers and the therapist,
with a view to alleviate pupils learning difficulties thus overcoming barriers to meaningful learning. I have an understanding that my role is to cooperate with other colleagues such as the therapist, on how to come out with impactful strategies that can be used to pass instructions during teaching irrespective of pupils special needs. Having worked in this terrain in the course of my teaching career, I have been able to identify pupils with special needs in my classroom and I was able to suggest intervention to the parents of the affected pupils and the result has yielded positive feedback. A cooperation between the pupil’s classroom teacher and the pupil’s therapist was able to record an appreciable improvement in the pupil’s achievement plan.
I am a professionally trained teacher who is passionate about teaching. I am committed to getting the best possible outcome from my pupils irrespective of their different characteristics. My philosophy about teaching is that pupils come into the classroom with different traits and characteristics hence different methods and strategies must be applied in order to put all the pupils on the same pedestal of
knowledge, to ensure meaningful and impactful learning. I have the ability to steer up high expectations in pupils and to ensure that pupils reach the desired height academically, irrespective of those characteristics that stands as temporary setback. I am professionally trained to creatively work and to collaborate with other colleagues to achieve common task. I can work under little or no supervision and still ensure the attainment of task. I have good mastery of the subject and command of English language that is simple and tolerant to pupils at this level of education. I am committed to discharging my duties professionally at all times and to ensure the safety and equality among the pupils because I see myself as locus parents to the pupils.
I’m the Director of Eluncedweni Care Centre (NPO) a community-based welfare organization that was formed in 2016 in East London, South Africa. It was founded on humanitarian principles to serve and support our community. The organization believes in the inherent potential in human beings that we ensure the effective delivery of nutritional support, psychosocial support, and social services. Our goal is to focus on how to better and shape the future of our community.
