Malati Raghunath

My interests are in areas of catalysis, green chemistry and functional materials. I received her Ph.D. in areas of organometallic chemistry (The Pennsylvania State University, 2005) and was an NSF postdoctoral researcher at University of California, Santa Barbara in areas of Green chemistry.

I've worked for nearly two decades in the chemical industry (Pfizer, Clariant) and briefly taught at academic institutions in the United States. Since 2020, I've has been a consultant for start-ups and mid-size chemical companies spanning oil and gas, pharmaceuticals and renewables. Along with research, I also enjoys my stint as a Guest faculty at IIT Madras (my alma mater)

I am passionate about Science education, especially its pedagogy enabling a STEM spark in young minds. I serve as an advisor in content creation of Chudar, a non-profit in the Tamil Nadu school education space (https://www.chudar.org/about-chudar-education/) and PALS, an IITM outreach initiative for rural engineering colleges (https://palspgm.com/).
As part of Science outreach activities, I've been a mentor and judge in several Science fairs (Intel ISEF, International Chemistry olympiad) and Carbon Zero challenge (https://czeroc.in/).
