Maria Luisa Testa is a Senior Research at Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) at the Institute for the Study of Nanostructured Material (ISMN) in Italy. After the undergraduate studies in Palermo (Italy), she received European PhD at Valencia University (Spain). The research concerns the sustainable synthesis of nanomaterials applied in transformation of biomass components in biofuels and added-value products, wastewater purification and gas pollutants abatement. Special attention is paid to the circular chemistry on 1) use of waste as secondary raw materials both for the synthesis of new materials and production valuable chemicals 2) use of sustainable procedure (MW assisted reactions) and chemicals 3) process efficiency. She is involved in several national and international projects on environmental catalysis and preparation of active materials. She had various research international experiences (India–CSIR; Spain-Cordoba and Valencia Universities; France–IRCELYON; Ireland– Cork University; Bulgaria-Academy of Science). She is also Guest Editor of several Issues in Materials and Catalysis Journals. Part of the activity is devoted to Chemistry dissemination, teaching, tutoring and thesis supervision. Since 2012 her dissemination activity includes Training Course for School Teachers, Scientific Events, Projects for Schools, Conference for Schools. Co-Investigator of European Dissemination Project Raw Matters Ambassador at Schools 4.0 financed by EIT/EIT Raw Materials. Person in charge of Communication Group of the CNR Palermo (Prot. Nm 235474/2023) and of Scientific Dissemination in CNR-ISMN Palermo (Prot. Nm.215734/2023). Person in charge of Lab “Sintesi e Catalisi per la Valorizzazione della Biomassa” of ISMN PA. Responsible of CNR Project STM2023 (Prot 246636/2023) on “MW-assisted synthesis of TiO2 and ZnO based photocatalysts for H2 production” to allow Prof Estévez Toledano Rafael Carlos from Cordoba University (Spain) to attend ISMN Labs. CNR-ISMN Person in Charge for the MOU Collaboration Agreement (Prot.0207993 del 05/07/2023-UOR658) between CNR-ISMN and Cordoba University (Spain) in the frame of collaboration with the “Valorization of biomass into chemical products and energy through heterogeneous (photo)catalysis” group of Chemistry Department. Author of >50 papers (manuscript, patent) in ISI journals of the area of catalysis and sustainable chemistry
