Bio

Dr Anand Sawant after his doctoral research in 2011, started working as Assistant Professor in Sanjay Ghodwat University, then Sanjay Ghodawat Institute. After completing university sponsored project, Anand moved to USA for his fully sponsored post-doctoral research in the group of Professor Robin D. Rogers in The University of Alabama. There he was working on an Industry sponsored project for development of ionic liquid catalysts. After joining back Sanjay Ghodawat University, Dr Anand has developed his research group with vision of making use of sustainable chemistry tools to solve societal, economic and environmental challenges of the modern world. Currently, he is supervising three research scholars for PhD and eight graduate students. Our group is keen to work on Green chemistry principles to achieve sustainable development goals.

Ongoing Projects

Our group’s research interests are divided into three projects that broadly address four (3, 7, 12, 13) UNSDGs. 

  1. Project Green includes, Ionic Liquid (IL) catalyzed selective organic transformations where we are keen to develop task specific IL catalysts. We are preparing low cost heterogenized catalysts for organic transformations. 
  2. In our project Energy we are focusing on preparing functionalized molecules that can give tools to control morphology of materials for energy applications and providing tools. 
  3. Project Earth deals with use of natural molecules for biological applications and conversion of biomass (agri- waste to valuable products).
