Originally interested in medicine, I decided to leave the medical field and decided my real passion was teaching. I was duped. Not by the abysmal pay and working conditions; but, by the kids and their ability to suck me in to this never ending cycle of constant self-improvement and paying-it-forward.

The kids are what got me into this mess, the adults are trying to get me out of it. Help me not let them, help me stay in it for the kids.

You can do that by reaching out to me, asking what I am currently up to, if there is a project I am working on that you can be a part of, anything. I would be more than happy to share what I have.

Ongoing Projects

1. Trying to build a Green Chemistry class that would take the place of a "regular"/"remedial" chemistry course. I think the most important thing I should try to accomplish is to try and engage, retain, and encourage young minds that may not do so well on standardized exams, but can be saved through contextualized problem-based learning through Green Chemistry and Sustainability.

 

2. Conducting a literature review in order to gain better understanding as to why High School teachers- in the US- cannot be more involved with the research, activities, and ACS conferences. I would like to write for the Journal of Chem. Ed. and submit an editorial on this issue and provide possible solutions or invite discourse that has not already taken place.
