Bio
Niki Juhl (she/her/hers) is a Colorado native who obtained her bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University, Fort Collins. After earning her Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs, she spent nine years teaching secondary science at Rampart High School in Academy District 20. She developed innovative science curricula using blended learning.
Niki is currently a Teaching Professor in the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department at UCCS. She teaches the GOB (General, Organic, and Biochemistry) lectures and labs for the nursing and healthcare majors, online Environmental Science, and GPS 1010: Restore (Restoration of Colorado forests) for UCCS’s Gateway Program Seminar. Niki also serves as the Sustainability Chair on the Compass Curriculum Leadership Team for UCCS’s general education program.
Niki serves as the Intro to Chemistry Lab Curriculum Coordinator, developing curricula to reflect the best teaching, learning, and chemistry practices and integrating those concepts into an Open Educational Lab Resource. She works closely with other Lab Curriculum Coordinators and faculty to integrate Green and Sustainable Chemistry, Social Justice in Science and provides opportunities for students to apply these topics to chemistry in our environment, economy, and society.

Ongoing Projects
Publishing, through Creative Commons, a laboratory manual for a General, Organic, and Biological Chemistry course for nursing and health promotions degrees. The labs incorporate green and sustainable chemistry and UN Sustainable Development Goals.
