Nikki Man

I am an organic chemist by training, specialised in medicinal chemistry (novel antibacterial agents) and catalysis (new nickel catalysts as palladium alternative). After completing a postdoc in materials science (kitchen-inspired techniques for sustainable materials), I joined a Berlin-based startup as the Head of Green Chemistry, working in process development projects for the pharma and fine chemicals industries. With the same team, we co-founded a virtual CMO with the aim to implement green chemistry and digitalisation practices in chemical process development. As Chief Sustainability Officer, I worked on technical projects as well as the governance and sustainability strategy of the company.

Since 2007, I have been teaching professionally as a musician and later on as a chemist (since 2012). I have expertise in pedagogical design, content development, as well as the delivery and assessment of instrumental and music theory, organic chemistry, and chemistry-discipline technical English education- labs, lectures, tutorials, online education.

Currently:
- postdoc at the Humboldt University Berlin, with research interests in thinking models and student motivation in green chemistry education
- freelance lecturer at the University of Regensburg, remote education for chemistry masters students in technical english/academic skills
- transfer development team of greenCHEM, an education ministry-funded project with the goal to build a green chemistry ecosystem between research, education, startups and industry.
