Bio
As a bioorganic chemist, my work spans the development of tailored synthetic fragment libraries, macrocycles, DNA-encoded libraries, fluorescently labeled protein systems, and diverse carbohydrate architectures, with an emphasis on integrating green chemistry principles into molecular design and synthesis.
My research is driven by a strong interest in understanding biomolecular interactions at a fundamental level. I investigate the thermodynamics and kinetics underlying the interactions of small molecules, peptides, and glycans with protein targets, generating insights into binding mechanisms, specificity, and molecular recognition.
This dual expertise enables me to contribute to projects that require both the creation of novel chemical tools and the rigorous characterization of their biological function.
I am also deeply committed to teaching and mentoring. I teach Biochemistry, Bioanalytical Laboratory, and Honors General Chemistry courses, with a strong emphasis on active learning, student engagement, and green chemistry principles. I am particularly interested in advancing green chemistry practices in teaching laboratories and improving instructional approaches to better support neurodivergent learning styles. I currently serve as Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry Undergraduate Programs Committee and a Division of Research Associate, contributing to curriculum development and student success initiatives.
