Dr. Kerton is a Professor of Green Chemistry at Memorial University and the 2019 recipient of the Canadian Green Chemistry and Engineering Award of the Chemical Institute of Canada, and the SCI Canada Kalev Pugi Award in 2023. She is a member of the editorial advisory board for the journal Reaction Chemistry & Engineering (published by the Royal Society of Chemistry) and since 2022 has been an associate editor for the journal RSC Sustainability. In 2016, she was Memorial University's Distinguished Scholar for Science and in 2020, she was name a 'rockstar' supervisor for excellence in graduate supervision. In 2009, RSC Publishing published her world-leading text on Alternative Solvents for Green Chemistry and an updated second edition was published in May 2013. She has since contributed to several other books and her co-edited book on Fuels, Chemicals and Materials from the oceans was published in 2017. She is a member of a Canada-wide research network on CO2 utilization (https://www.circuitco2.ca/). She had the honour of co-chairing the 27th Green Chemistry and Engineering Conference in Long Beach in 2023. She does volunteer work with IUPAC including chairing the CHEMRAWN standing committee.
