Infographics profiling green chemists
Summary
This assignment is used in a 4th year/senior undergraduate course to encourage students to engage with the broader green chemistry community and learn about a green chemist of their choosing. This assignment also has them re-engage with software/websites that they have used previously such as Web of Science and SciFinder to find journal articles, and ChemDraw to prepare reaction schemes. The assignment allows students to express their creativity and artistic side, and for some, it is their first experience of science communication.

Great assignment. If you…
Great assignment.
If you want an additional resource for students to view examples of other media (videos and written stories) highlighting careers that make use of green chemistry and sustainable design principles, here is another item posted to the GCTLC:
Careers Highlighting Green Chemistry and Sustainable Design in Chemical or Product Manufacturing Companies | Green Chemistry Teaching and Learning Community (GCTLC)
I tried something similar in…
I tried something similar in my chemical toxicology course the last time I taught it. Another twist you could add would be to restrict the number of U.S. and Canadian chemists that can be approached; force more interactions with other parts of the world. This can bring a broader global perspective to the assignment.
