Humberto Milagre

Humberto Milagre earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemistry at the UFMG (Federal University of Minas Gerais) and his Ph.D. and a PostDoc at UNICAMP (University of Campinas) in organic chemistry. In 2009, he joined the Bioscience Institute at UNESP (São Paulo State University). In 2013, he moved to the Institute of Chemistry at UNESP - where he is an Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry. His research interests focus on biocatalysis for organic synthesis, particularly in Green Chemistry and the use of enzymes. His primary interests include the application of various catalytic methodologies—homogeneous, heterogeneous, chemoenzymatic, and enzymatic—in organic synthesis. He is also interested in biocatalysis in alternative reaction media, enzyme immobilization, and Rotating Bed Reactors for catalyst compartmentalization, especially for producing fine chemicals.
