Supaporn Kradtap Hartwell

Supaporn Kradtap Hartwell, originally from Thailand, has been teaching in the Department of Chemistry at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio for the past 15 years. She earned her M.S. in Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Cincinnati. Before moving to the United States, she taught chemistry at Chiang Mai University in Thailand for 10 years, where she developed her passion for research and mentoring students. Her research focuses on green analytical chemistry, particularly the development of low cost, environmentally friendly chemical analysis methods including paper-based assays and the use of safe natural reagents. During her time at Xavier University, she also developed a strong interest in chemical education research and innovative approaches to teaching and learning. As a former international student and now a faculty member in the United States, Supaporn values global learning experiences. Recently, she initiated an international green chemistry teaching project connecting high school chemistry teachers from different countries. The project promotes chemistry education while creating accessible opportunities for teachers and students to engage in intercultural communication and broaden their perspectives. Through her work, she hopes to inspire younger generations through science, sustainability, collaboration, and global engagement.
