Bio

Professor Thouraya Barhoumi-Slimi is a Full Professor of Chemistry at the University of Carthage High Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (HIEST) of Borj-Cedria, Tunisia. She is Head of the Common Services Research Unit NMR-IR-EA and was Director of Studies and Internships at HIEST (2020-2024). Her research focuses on the synthesis, structural characterization, and biological evaluation of heteroatom-containing organic molecules, as well as the valorization of plant materials. She has authored over 20 international publications, supervised several Master’s and PhD theses, and contributed to numerous scientific conferences as coordinator, committee member, and plenary speaker. She was Chair of the HIEST Quality Committee (2020-2024). She is certified PECB Senior Lead Auditor ISO 21001 v.2018, a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC, UK) since 2010 and of the Tunisian Chemical Society since 1992. She has also co-founded the Tunisian Coordination Chemistry Group and the RSC Tunisian Local Section and Sciences Horizons Association.
